Cultural Advertising
So, I'm on a business trip through Europe and stop through Cologne Germany to visit a potential customer. I'm at the train station and the billboard to the left is what I see. First off, when I see an add where someone is peeing I pause and snicker. But what the hell is this ad saying? Literally it translates to: "for same surely for everything". In the translation from German I can't see the msg but in advertising it's the msg you can't read that says the most. So is this saying that smoking these cigs is as pleasurable as pissing? Maybe during a hard night of beer, smoking these cigs is the best? Maybe this woman is a prostitute and just coming out of the woods with her John? What is the msg here? Tell me what you think? Maybe this will be a new thread or a contest.
Advertising and msgs are interesting, what are advertisers and media really saying. I came across a post by David Airey that really made me think; USA vs. The Rest Of the World; a graphic design comparison.
In this post David compares the way Time Magazine creates a different cover page for different regions, take a look at the post but here is what he showed:

Surely Time things the US buyers have a different desire in what to read.
Who are they to tell us what we want?
Check out his post, it will make you think.
